The Universe is broken produce is now used as currency, the Vehicle Code now reads like post-apocalyptic fiction, and pop culture has taken a serious turn for the weird – the laws of man are all fouled up, and the laws of nature aren't far behind. It's almost too much to cope with for an ordinary guy like Daniel.
Fortunately, he’s got Meme – she’s an investigator with a secret, off-the-books organization that deals with strange Universal phenomena, and she’s kidnapped Daniel from his hospital bed to figure it all out. She thinks Daniel has more to do with the broken Universe than he's letting on…
And she's usually right about these things.

I really liked this book. I saw him promoting his book (indie author) on Twitter, and decided to give it a try. What a great find. First, a question: Are you a Douglas Adams fan? Not the "I know he's a big author, so I'll say I like his books" kind of fan, but "quirky, makes you think, wait, how did we get here?" kind of fan. Cusick's first book, Meme, has some similarities to the Restaurant style: The protagonist is in a wacky situation, completely adrift but trying desperately to stay afloat, and keeps having his perception of reality challenged. Not like an acid trip, but just a little off - cats serving drinks at a bar, getting into a fight with a samurai - just another typical day (haha). If you tried to read Adams and couldn't keep up - don't read this, it will be just as confusing. For those of us who appreciate that style of story, grab your towel and get ready for another ride (sans towel this time)!Product details

This is unique to anything else I've read. So, I went into it with an open mind. So glad I did!
Hope to see more from this new and imaginative author!
I'm sitting here trying to write this review because I got an email from asking me to rate it since I had recently finished it. I immediately put down 5 stars but while going to the description I had a hard time thinking of a short way to describe my feelings about this book. it is the authors first novel, and there seems to be some points in the story where he can rant for longer than desired, but even in those longer rants, there is a clear thought out part of the story he is showing us. my biggest complaint is that this book was my thing to look forward to at the end of a long stressful day. I looked forward to continuing the adventures Cusick was taking me on, and now I finished it so the adventures are over for now. look forward to his future works. solid characters, solid plot, broken universe. love it
As Jack is a friend, I felt a certain compulsion to read this, his first novel, even tho' it is out of my usual genre (historical fiction), but he caught me in the first few sentences. I don't know why that should surprise me as I saw a lot of his own quirky personality traits within the characters. I also enjoyed the allusions to other things such as the "do you know Jesus" and who he turned out to be. Great twists -- I could never quite get where we were going until we got there, which kept me engaged. I would love a sequel and more of Meme. Cannot wait!
I read this book by this guy I've never met and certainly don't see at work every day and who never came to my band's shows or bought our CDs or anything so this is a totally unbiased review. I could say a lot of good things about this book, but the first thing I noticed is it's cheap. $2.99. There's not even tax or shipping. What the hell? The second thing about this book I noticed is it's really funny. Not just in a "jokes strung together way", but in an adventurous "OMG he spent three pages setting up that pun" kind of way. Everyone compares the author to Douglas Adams which I don't think is really fair. First of all Douglas Adams is dead. That gives him an advantage right there. Everyone knows when authors throw down, the dead guy almost always wins. But the bigger deal is this book stays on course better than the HHGTG books. A better comparison would be the Dirk Gently books, but even that won't give you a real feel for Meme. It sort of shares a genre with Douglas Adams, but this no "send in the clones" thing. This is a book you'll be sad to finish. It's really clever and funny. Even if you don't like funny books, you should read this because Donald Trump would hate it. If you like it a lot and decide to write a fan letter to the author, you might mention how underpaid computer techs are.
